Incredible and true: The history of our hotel dates back to 1334! This makes the Romantik Spa Hotel Elixhauser Wirt Austria’s oldest family-run business. For generations, the Elixhauser Wirt has welcomed guests and friends from near and far. Today’s hostess, Michaela Gmachl, is the 23rd generation of the family. She took over the hotel from her parents, Theresia and Fritz Gmachl, and has been running it ever since with great vision, extensive experience, and personal charm. She places great importance on ensuring that the hotel reflects both centuries-old traditions and the needs of modern times – carefully passing it on to the next generation. Her children, Theresa, Katharina, and Pauli, are already following in their ancestors’ footsteps: Theresa is studying international tourism management, Katharina is attending the tourism school in Bad Hofgastein, and Pauli regularly oversees quality control of our schnitzel, Kaiserschmarrn, and other dishes.
